In December, several members of VR’s editorial staff were honored by the motor press community for the quality of their work in Vintage Racecar.
European Editor Ed McDonough won the Guild of Motoring Writers’ Aston Martin International Trophy for “excellence in journalistic achievement by a Guild member working in the international field.” The silver Aston Martin Trophy and a £1500 award was accepted on Ed’s behalf by VR photographer Peter Collins on Nov. 29 at the RAC Club in London, as Ed was in Australia, with the VR team covering the Tasman Revival event.
Meanwhile, in California, VR’s Pete Lyons was awarded the Motor Press Guild’s 2006 Dean Batchelor Award for magazine articles, for “Heroes Are Human, Too,” an article which appeared in the May 2006 issue of Vintage Racecar on former Formula 1 Champion and Indy 500 winner Graham Hill.
Finally, VR photographer Pete Austin won the British Land Registry National Arts and Photographic Competition for his motorsport photography in both the best digital image and best human portrait categories. Congratulations, to Vintage Racecar’s trio of award winners!
