The marque of the Prancing Horse will take center stage at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance this August 16, as the cars from Maranello will once again grace the 18th fairway en masse.
“Our plans to feature Ferrari have been many years in the making,” said event chair Sandra Button, “but it seems particularly appropriate to be showcasing this marque now, since a Ferrari earned our top award this past year.”
Best of Show at last year’s concours was awarded to Jon Shirley’s 1954 Ferrari 375 MM Scaglietti Coupe, the first Ferrari to be so honored. Several special Ferrari classes at this year’s event will focus on Preservation Ferraris and Ferraris that were raced in the Pebble Beach Road Races of the 1950s.
Other features of the 2015 Concours will be: • The duPont marque, of which only about 30 are known to exist; • Designs by the Italian coachbuilder Carrozzeria Touring; • Post-war Cunningham cars, including the Vignale-built C3 sports cars; • Historic Mercury custom cars from the late 1940s and early 1950s; • Pope automobiles from the early 20th century; • Japanese motorcycles; and • British pre-war sports cars. The event will also celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Lincoln Continental and the 50th anniversary of the Shelby Mustang GT350—the latter of which is also the featured marque for this year’s Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion at nearby Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
