1000 Miglia opened registrations for the 2019 Warm Up USA training and USA championship race that will take place in and around Washington, D.C. from Wednesday, October 23rd to Saturday, October 26th, 2019. The event will feature one day of regularity rally training, followed by a three-day race in the true 1000 Miglia style and format with celebratory finish on Italian soil at Villa Firenze, the Italian Ambassador’s residence in Washington, D.C. The partners for the event include the Italian Embassy in Washington, Alfa Romeo, Chopard, Alitalia and the Summit Point Motorsports Park.
After the success of the 1000 Miglia Warm Up USA 2018, this year 1000 Miglia srl organizes the first formal competition race outside of Italy and the overall winner will be awarded the inaugural Coppa USA (USA Cup).
The event is reserved for up to 40 cars in two classes: the 1000 Miglia Era Class and the Post-1000 Miglia Era Class. The first will be open to 1000 Miglia eligible cars, built between 1927 and 1957, as well as significant sports and grand touring cars built during the same period; the second will be open to sports, grand touring and supercars cars built from 1958 to present.
The crews will be divided into two categories: novice and veteran, based on the number of participations in the last seven editions of the 1000 Miglia. Veteran competitors are the crews with at least one driver with experience in two or more 1000 Miglia between 2013 and 2019 and novice competitors are those with less or no experience in the 1000 Miglia. In addition to the Coppa USA (reserved for the winner of the 1000 Miglia Era Class), crews will also compete for eight guaranteed entries to the 1000 Miglia race in May 2020. These guaranteed entries will be distributed to the two top veteran competitors in each class (1000 Miglia Era and Post-1000 Miglia Era) and two top novice competitors in each class.
