Max Girardo left his position as Managing Director of RM Sotheby’s European operation to create a London-based brokerage for classic cars named Girardo & Co.
Girardo started his career with Bonhams in 1997 and also established a Monaco base for CARS Europe, before joining RM Sotheby’s as Managing Director at 29 years old.During his decade-long stewardship of RM Europe, he has been auctioneer at over 80 international auctions, which grossed $1.5 billion in sales and has sold nine of the 20 most valuable cars ever sold at auction. Furthermore, Max has sold more than $250 million in private treaty sales.
Girardo commented on his new venture, “After ten great years at RM, the time has come for me to establish my own business and to realise my own ambitions. This is a very exciting venture for me and my sole objective is to establish a business which leads the market in customer service and quality. Girardo & Co. will quickly become the benchmark by which others will be judged.”

Sad to see him go, had great style.
He will be missed. What a man.
A class act. I can’t believe he’s leaving RM – emotional times. They will need to find a replacement and that won’t be easy.
The 16 year old work experience boy may be OK to do it if he can breathe, speak and count up to 10.
Again, an amazing man.
