Organizers of the 10th annual Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance have announced that their 2005 event will feature the cars of famed Italian manufacturer Alfa Romeo. The show will be held March 11–13, 2005 at the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island, Florida.
“We are extremely excited at the expanse of Alfas that will be displayed at the 2005 show,” says Bill Warner, concours founder and chairman. “For example, the Indianapolis Speedway Museum will be bringing one of only two Tipo C 308 Grand Prix cars that raced at the Brickyard from 1938 to 1947. This example is powered by a 3-liter, supercharged powerplant and was driven by Louis Durant to a 6th place finish in the 1947 race.” The C 308 had unprecedented longevity for the period and consistently finished in the top 10 of the Indianapolis 500.
In addition to Alfa Romeo, the 2005 Amelia Island concours will also honor the 50th anniversary of the introduction of the Chevrolet small block V-8 engine. For more information, visit www.ameliaconcours.org or call (904) 636-0027
