Alfa Romeo enthusiasts around the world will mark the marque’s 100th anniversary on June 24, 2010, with celebrations from Italy to America to Australia. The official “factory” party will be held in Milan, with “satellite” celebrations scheduled for both the Alfa Romeo Owners Club’s annual convention in Frederick, Maryland, and the 21st Anniversary Phillip Island Classic near Melbourne, Australia, among other venues.
The AROC convention, set for June 23-27, has been named Alfa Century 2010, and will present a variety of activities, including track days at nearby Summit Point Motor Sports Park, an autocross, a free, open-to-the-public Concorso-style car show, and both gimmick and time-speed-distance rallies. Also scheduled are bus and driving tours of nearby Washington, D.C., Civil War battlefields, and other historic sites, as well as the usual convention fare of receptions, dinners, technical seminars, and meetings.

In Australia, the Phillip Island Classic will take place on March 19-21 and feature more than 100 examples of Alfa Romeo taking to the Grand Prix circuit for a variety of events. Australia’s champion racing driver from 1968 and 1969, Kevin Bartlett, is being honored as the event’s Patron, and will be demonstrating Alfa Romeo–powered single-seaters constructed by Brabham and Mildren.
Other well-known Australian drivers with noted Alfa Romeo racing histories—including Alan Jones, Colin Bond, Tim Schenken, Bryan Thomson, Jim McKeown, and Frank Porter—have been invited to join in the fun as well, and a number of notable Alfa Romeo racecars are also expected to appear.
