On May 26–27, the Bugatti Owners’ Club staged their all-French “La Vie en Bleu” speed hillclimb event at the UK’s famous Prescott Hill, near Cheltenham. Among the 50 Alpine Renaults invited was Club Alpine Renault–member Rob Gibson who invited famed British racer Barry “Whizzo” Williams to co-drive his A110. Williams was last at Prescott in 1987, but demonstrated that he had lost none of his famous style in hurling the little Berlinette 110 up the tricky Prescott Hill on Saturday.
Sixteen Alpines took part in the Club Alpine Renault championship round on Sunday in atrocious weather, however, the rain was no problem for the nimble A110 Berlinette rally cars. In fact, Gibson, in his little 1,397-cc Alpine Renault A110, was so quick that he set the fastest time of the day of all 120 competitors at the meeting.
