On the heels of last month’s news that a Ferrari 250 GTO broke the all-time record for the most expensive car, at $35 million, sadly another record may have been broken this month, that of the world’s most expensive car crash.
American collector Christopher Cox and his wife Ann were driving their 250 GTO in France, as part of a 50th anniversary of the GTO rally, when the pair was reportedly rear-ended while attempting to make a turn. While few details have yet to be confirmed, the force of the rear-end collision reportedly propelled the GTO forward resulting in it hitting another car. The impact, with one or two cars depending on which of the many reports you believe, was significant enough that Ann Cox is said to have broken a bone in the accident. While Cox and his wife were treated for their injuries, the GTO will need more substantial care as it has been significantly damaged.
