One of the highlights of this year’s Arizona Concours d’Elegance, set for January 23 at the Arizona Biltmore Resort in Phoenix, will be a round table discussion among six Indy 500 winners as part of the event’s celebration of this year’s 100th running of “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.”
The panel will be headlined by three-time 500 winners Johnny Rutherford and Dario Franchitti, two-time victor Arie Luyendyk, and single winners Tom Sneva, Ryan Hunter-Reay and Eddie Cheever. Four historic Indycars from the collection of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum, including Jim Clark’s 1964 pole-winning Lotus 34-Ford (above), will also be on display, along with the famed Borg-Warner Trophy.
The discussion will be moderated by Lyn St. James, Rookie of the Year at Indy in 1992 and a seven-time starter in the 500.
The gathering of Indycar stars at the Arizona Concours also serves as a preview for the series’ return to Phoenix International Raceway in 2016 following an 11-year absence. The Verizon IndyCar Series will contest the Phoenix Grand Prix on the mile at PIR on April 1-2.
