As we’ve said in this space many times before, thank heaven for the Internet’s ability to share one man’s obsession with the rest of us! This month’s featured Web site is another one of those obscure personal obsessions that turns out to be an interesting diversion/resource for the rest of us.
While the site is really quite basic, it has evolved into a vast repository of detailed, hi-res images of a surprising number of historic racecars. Not only can you view good quality, color images of everything from an ERA, Ferrari P4, Eagle F1, or Ladybird, but each gallery also features a large number of close-up detail shots that really prove to be quite revealing. Car galleries are organized by type of car and by the event that the photos were taken (i.e., Monterey 2003 or Lime Rock 2002), but with a built-in Google search engine, it is very easy to punch in a given car and find the shots quickly. Whether you are restoring a particular car and can’t quite remember how something should go back together(!) or just interested in seeing your favorites in more detail, this site will prove an interesting resource.
