In late October, the FIA’s Formula One commission removed Belgium’s historic Spa-Francorchamps circuit from the 2003 Formula One schedule due to the country’s ban on tobacco advertising. Considered by many to be, next to Monaco, one of the last true racing circuits left on the Formula One calendar, Spa’s high speed, twisting 7-kilometer course hosted its first motor race some 80 years ago. According to current World Champion Michael Schumacher, “It was my favorite track from the beginning.”
