Serial One Corvettes at 2016 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale

The Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2016 auction was held January 23-31 at WestWorld in Scottsdale, Arizona, resulting in more than $102 million in gross sales and a 99 percent sell-through rate. A total of 1,469 vehicles sold during this year’s Arizona Auction Week sale, the company’s 45th annual Scottsdale event that was attended by approximately 350,000 people. Over 1,400 pieces of automobilia sold for nearly $3 million, bringing the total sales to over $105 million.

The top result at the 45th Anniversary Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale sale went to the trio of ‘Serial One’ Corvettes, a 1955 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible, 1956 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible and 1957 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible, all ‘Serial One’ from their respective years, that sold together for $1,815,000.

Other notable results included the Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach (Lot #1392) that brought a record $1,760,000, the 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am “Smokey and the Bandit” Promo Car (Lot #7004) that made a record $550,000 and the 2006 Ford GT Heritage Edition (Lot #1370) that commanded $522,500.

Once again, charitable giving was a significant part of the auction action as 11 vehicles crossed the Scottsdale block, including the 2017 Acura NSX VIN #001. They cumulatively raised $3,406,000 to benefit local and national non-profit organizations.
