In last week’s item about the Bentley Drivers Club’s August 5 outing at Silverstone, we apparently misinterpreted the results and discussed two separate races running coincidentally as a single race with two classes. The fourth paragraph of last week’s item should thus have read:
The BDC celebrated victories for several of its members. Newly licensed Bert Degenaar, competing in only his third race ever, took top honors in the Padgett Motor Engineers Bentley Handicap Race at the wheel of Club colleague Ewen Getley’s 1924 Bentley 3/4½. In the pair of P&A Wood Bentley Races for Pre-1966 and Post-1966 Cars, Simon Worthington chalked up a convincing win by 6.5 seconds with his 1990 Turbo R (above, Peter de Rousset photo courtesy of Bentley Drivers Club), while Michael Higginbotham took Pre-1966 honors with his 1948 MkVI Special.
We apologize for the misunderstanding.
