The Vintage Racing Club of British Columbia (VRCBC) will present the 2017 British Columbia Historic Motor Races at the Mission Raceway Park road course in Mission, B.C., on the weekend of August 19-20. This year’s special features include the Hagerty Formula Festival, a combined race for Formula Ford and Formula Vee, with the Abbotsford Trophy awarded to the Formula Vee winner, and the Westwood Trophy going to the top Formula Ford
The weekend will also offer racing for the Closed Wheel Vintage Production-based and Improved Production racecars, with the “all comers” Closed Wheel Vintage race proving especially popular with both drivers and fans. Also, the second annual Jim Latham Memorial Race will be held on the Sunday afternoon, with racers competing for the historic SCCBC Trophy.
The Exhibition Class includes all purpose-built racing cars, including sports racing and higher-level formula cars. The most spirited performance in this class will receive the Pete Lovely Memorial Award. The weekend will also mark the debut of an all-new All Japanese Group, which will have its own 50-minute All Japanese Enduro.
Among the other Special Awards to be presented are The Chairman’s Trophy, for the most outstanding entry of the event, the Historic Battered Cup, for the entry that had the most “shattering” experience of the weekend, and the SOVREN Canada Cup, for the most significant U.S.-based SOVREN club entry.
Additionally the British Columbia Historic Motor Races will again offer the very popular “Ride in a Real Racing Car” option where fans, for a nominal donation, can go for a ride in an actual vintage racecar with its owner/driver during a dedicated period over the Saturday and Sunday lunch breaks. The donations from this year’s rides will again support the VRCBC’s charity of choice, the Mission Hospice Society.
