The Cavallino Classic 2012 was held January 17-22 at the Breakers Resort Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida. Well-known to Ferrari enthusiasts worldwide, Cavallino celebrated the 21st anniversary of its annual meeting this year.
The 2012 edition of the Cavallino Classic celebrated the Ferrari GTO, Vignale-bodied cars and Aston Martin. The event included a couple of days of car testing at Palm Beach International Raceway (formerly Moroso circuit), followed by the day at the Breakers Hotel with the Concorso and judgment of the cars.To close Cavallino, an event was held at the Mar-a-Lago Club, the legendary Marjorie Merriweather Post mansion in old Palm Beach. It was open to Ferraris, in addition to a lot of fantastic old cars including Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce, Mercedes-Benz and others.
The featured cars that participated included six Ferrari GTOs, all of them in perfect condition and four racing at Palm Beach International Raceway. While not many Vignale berlinettas or barchettas were present, there were several Aston Martin, including a wonderful DB4 GT Zagato and few outstanding DB2/4s, highlighted by a Supersonic by Ghia.
The Best of Show Competition Ferrari award at the 2012 Cavallino Classic was presented to the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO (s/n 3943 GT) of Charles Nearburg, while the Best of Show GT Ferrari award was given to the 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 Alloy (s/n 10059) of William Swanson.
