The 2020 Cavallino Classic has announced it will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Ferrari 250 GTE 2+2, January 22-25. Often overlooked next to its more famous brethren, the 250 GTE 2+2 has emerged as a Ferrari type that encapsulates many noteworthy elements – a wonderfully refined and elegant demeanor shrouding all those things underneath that a true Ferrari is known for, that big V-12 engine and the competition-based running gear.
Enzo Ferrari’s goal was to make a cultivated namesake car that combined luxury with power, but in a way that spoke of understatement and restraint. In this he succeeded and only now has this sophisticated concept been recognized.
Since the 250 GTE 2+2 is one of the honored Ferrari models at Cavallino 2020, owners are encouraged to enter their 250 GTE 2+2 in the Concorso d’Eleganza at The Breakers, for judging or display – owners’ choice. There will be a class dedicated solely to these cars and, if judged, the car is judged only against itself.
On Thursday through Sunday, owners are also urged to enter all the other functions of the Classic—Track, Tour, Classic Sports Sunday —where the 250 GTE 2+2 will be honored as well.
