Five of Jim Hall’s remarkable Chaparrals will take part in the Can-Am Thunder 35th Anniversary Celebration at Wisconsin’s Road America, July 19-22.
Chaparral founder, Jim Hall, will be bringing two of his European FIA coupes, as well as two roadsters, a McLaren-Chapparal Mk2 and the infamous “Sucker Car” to the event. These extremly rare racecars from Hall’s private collection will be taking part in several on-track demonstrations as part of the weekend’s tribute to the fabled Can-Am series.
Organizers predict that over 50 Can-Am cars will take part in the weekend’s historic races organized by the VSCDA. Can-Am participants will enjoy a special paddock and display area, a hospitality lounge with catered breakfast and lunch, as well as parties and some special surprises.
Jim Hall and the Vintage Racecar Journal’s own Pete Lyons will be signing copies of Lyons’ Can-Am books and a special commemorative poster created for the event. For more Can-Am Thunder information call (650) 329-8128 or the VSCDA at (616) 949-8281 for general race information.
