• The annual International Historic Motoring Awards, in association with EFG International, has announced that the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance has been recognized as the 2013 Motoring Event of the Year. The Amelia is the third winner of the award, which honors automotive celebrations from Australia, Germany, Italy, the United States and the United Kingdom. Finalists in the 2013 events category included the Kensington Palace Centennial Celebration of Aston Martin, the St. James Concours d’Elegance, Schloss Dyck, Pendine Sands VRHA Hot Rod, the Kop Hill Climb, The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering and the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
• Silverstone Auctions achieved an all-time record at its sale at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show where it successfully hammered away 76 percent of the vehicle lots on offer, for a premium inclusive total of more than £2.7 million. The star of the sale was a magnificent 1965 Aston Martin DB5. Presented in the iconic Silver Birch color, the car more than lived up to its pre-sale interest, eventually fetching a premium inclusive £362,250. Not to be outdone was another amazing Aston Martin, a delightful 1958 DB2/4 MKIII, also surpassing its estimate by selling for £220,800.
