Six cars from the Ford Performance Collection of megadealer Jim Click will be offered for sale by RM Sotheby’s at the Portola Hotel & Spa and Monterey Conference Center this August 19-20 during Monterey Classic Car week. Click began vintage racing with these cars a quarter-century ago and has decided it’s now time to offer them for others to enjoy.
Heading the list is a 1966 Ford GT40 Mark 1 (chassis P/1061) with a Weber-carbureted 289 V8, that is one of 31 such cars built by Ford for promotional purposes (above, Patrick Ernzen photo courtesy of RM Sotheby’s). A pair of 289 Cobras is also on offer, one is CSX2473, an ex-Dan Roberts “Competition” model that collected three SCCA Divisional Championships, while the other, CSX2326, also boasts racing trim.
A pair of Kar Kraft-constructed Boss 302 Trans-Am Mustangs are also being sold, one is a 1969 car from Shelby American that was driven in period by the likes of Dan Gurney and Peter Revson, while the other is a 1970 model built by Bud Moore’s operation and driven in ’71 by Peter Gregg. Filling out the list is a 1966 Shelby Mustang GT350 (chassis SFM6S2363) that was raced both in period and as a vintage racecar.
