One of the things I miss is the old-style motor show. Manufacturers tended to keep their new models until just before, and then they came as a surprise. There were no “scoop” photographs in magazines months, or years, before an announcement, nor was there the suspicion that the photographer had actually been tipped off by the manufacturer.
Nobody was ready for the Citroën DS 19 when it appeared in 1955. In the sci-fi movie, Gattaca, set in the future, the director did not bother with CGI, he just rounded up some Citroëns.
