The Colorado Grand 2013 was staged September 16-21 on the secondary roads of Colorado, starting and ending in Vail. The 25th annual rally covered roughly 1,000 miles of scenic highways and byways through the Rocky Mountains over five days, including a spirited drive through the stunning red rock playground of Moab, Utah.
Founded in 1989 by enthusiast Bob Sutherland, the Colorado Grand is an annual charity tour for 1960 and earlier sports and race cars of distinction. Every September at the peak of the fall color season approximately 85 vintage cars are driven in this relaxed, non-competitive event. The “Grand” currently generates about $300,000 annually for small Colorado charities and Western Slope towns as well as college scholarships to graduating high-school seniors in those towns. Current charities include the Colorado State Patrol Family Foundation, the Robert Sutherland Foundation, Flight for Life, CASA, and medical facilities in small towns. Cumulative donations since 1989 are over $3.6 million, with over $1.3 million to the Colorado State Patrol Family Foundation.
The entry list for the 2013 Colorado Grand would make any top classic car event proud, with a banner selection of participants from around the world. Pre-war entrants at this year’s rally included a selection of important Bugatti and Bentley models; trio of SS-100 Jaguars; 1934 Lagonda M45 Tourer; 1934 Packard Dietrich Coupe; 1937 BMW 328; 1933 Alfa Romeo 8C 2600 Monza and 1931 6C 1750 Zagato; 1937 MG TA; 1931 Chrysler CM-6 Roadster and the 1937 Tommy Lee Kurtis Speedster.
An impressive list, but the post war participants was equally ‘grand’ with such notables as the Jaguar C-Types; 1959 Aston Martin DB4GT; 1953 Siata 208 S; 1952 Allard J2X; 1955 Maserati 300S; 1954 Maserati A6GCS; 1953 OSCA MT4 2AD; 1955 Porsche 550; 1959 BMW 507; 1955 Kurtis-Kraft 500 SX; 1957 Maserati 200 SI; 1952 Cunningham C4R and 1947 Cisitalia 202 SMM Nuvolari Spider; among many others. In addition, the 2013 event had a strong selection of Ferraris, including the ex-Scuderia Ferrari 1959 TR 59/60 Fantuzzi Spider; 1950 166 MM Le Mans Berlinetta; 1957 500 TRC; 1955 375 America Coupe Speciale built for Gianni Agnelli and several 250 GT LWB ‘Tour de France’ Berlinettas and 250 GT SWB Berlinettas.

Where it’s green you’re in Colorado, Every where else is Utah.
What’s with the anti Obamacare pop ups on this web site. Let’s keep the politics out of it.
Not happy to hear this. We specifically ban political ads for the obvious reasons, but perhaps we need to widen our net. Thanks for the heads up.
