The Ferrari Club of America Desert Region presents the annual Concorso Arizona event at The Boulders Resort in their el Pedregal Marketplace this Saturday, November 15, 2008. This Italian Sports Car and Exotics show features Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pantera and other spectacular Italian cars which will be on display from 9:30am to 3:30pm.
Concorso Arizona attracts entrants and spectators from all over Arizona and Nevada as well as other states. Many entrants to this year’s event caught our eye, including Russo and Steele founder Drew and Josephine Alcazar’s 1960 Ferrari 250 GT Pinin Farina Cabriolet Series II and a 1966 Ferrari 330 GTS. For the more modern taste, there is an Enzo and F-40, Lamborghinis, a Bugatti Veyron – the list goes on and on.
Allen Faulkner, Concorso Arizona Chairman and Ferrari car owner states that, “The purpose of this event is to use our passion for Italian and Exotic cars to benefit a charity dedicated to helping children and their families. This year our beneficiary will be The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Phoenix”. This is the second year that the event has chosen to give to this charity and they are also supporting Concorso Arizona by providing volunteers to help on the day of the event. In 2007 the event raised $25,000.00 through ticket and sponsorship sales and the FCA Desert Region hopes that the general public will come out and support the cause once again this weekend. “The FCA Desert Region is committed to helping children’s charities that really show results and make a major difference in the lives of children” remarks Rick Mukherjee, Director of FCA Desert region and enthusiastic Ferrari owner.
Scottsdale Ferrari-Maserati has been a long-time supporter and sponsor of the Concorso Arizona. This year, they will be displaying several examples of new cars, both Ferrari and Maserati. They are also bringing a specialty display which includes two Ferrari Challenge race cars. These cars are owned by individuals and are run in the Ferrari Challenge race series held around the United States with finals in Italy, dedicated solely to the F430 model.
Sponsor GarageTown USA had become involved with the event to speak to this car enthusiast group that has from one to upwards of twenty collector cars in their stable. The company offers the new “Garage Condo” concept and hopes that car owners will take interest in this creative investment that allows the condo owner to house an entire collection in one safe and secure place and customize to their hearts content. Sponsor Bondurant School of High Performance Driving will have their impressive show trailer and multiple vehicles on display.
A silent auction will be in place throughout the day that offers exceptional items including sports, music and movie industry memorabilia coupled with Automobilia. This auction is in place to benefit the charity. Recent items spotted at other auctions by this company include a very large and impressive autographed photo of Michael Phelps adorned with all his gold medals. Motorsports of Lamborghini will have new model cars on display and is a welcome first-year sponsor to the event, enhancing the overall Italian car theme. McDonald’s of Scottsdale is also contributing a sponsorship as well as providing breakfast to the judges who will select the finest examples of Ferrari within a number of categories for awards such as Best of Show and Best in Class. With media sponsors Highline Autos effectively spreading the word to a discerning crowd of sports and exotics enthusiasts, the event is sure to be another big hit.
Admission is just $5.00 and can be purchased at the event. Children 12 and under are free. A VIP ticket is $25.00 and offers a souvenir T-shirt, poster and event book in addition to admission to the show.
