An eclectic selection of cars that raced prior to 1970 graced the lawn of the South Coast Botanical Gardens in Palos Verdes, California, on Saturday, October 11, for the 4th annual Concours d’Provenance organized by Fabulous Fifties.
Unlike a Concours d’Elegance where cars are evaluated by their presentation and appearance, these cars sparkling in the sunshine in Palos Verdes were judged solely upon their racing provenance, or origins. Event Chairman Davey Jordan had named Dick Guldstrand, widely recognized as “Mr. Corvette,” to be the event’s Honorary Chairman, and Guldstrand made the Best of Show selection, choosing Rich Mason’s 1956 Corvette SR2 (above) for the honor.
Other class winners included Bob Drennan’s 1959 Corvette, Michael Jacobsen’s 1934 MG, Rack Hayden’s 1962 Volvo P1800, Marc Crocetti’s 1969 Palliser Super Vee, and Steve Simmons’s 1969 MGC GTS.
