Northern California’s Classic and Sports Racing Group has released its 2017 event schedule, listing four major events at Sonoma Raceway and Thunderhill Park. The CSRG Season kicks off with the annual David Love Memorial Races at Sonoma Raceway on the weekend of March 31-April 2, where the club will hold the inaugural round of its Crossflow Cup, a new five-race series for vintage Formula Fords. That championship will encompass two events at Sonoma, and single outings at Thunderhill, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca (HMSA May 18-19) and Portland International Raceway (SOVREN, September 2-3).
The year’s second event is an April 28-30 Formula Vee Gathering at Thunderhill, where all generations of Formula Vee — the SCCA’s oldest formula car grouping — will be welcomed. For details about this event, where the second round of the Crossflow Cup will also be staged, contact Jay McEnroe at fvgathering@gmail.com
After a summer break, the season will resume with the 14th running of the CSRG Charity Challenge at Sonoma, where the spotlight will be on the Can-Am Mini Challenge (above, Dennis Gray photo) — for details contact Rachel at: arperformance@hotmail.com — and the season finale of the Crossflow Cup for Formula Fords. The Charity Challenge remains the ultimate feel-good weekend as drivers can enjoy their toys while raising money for the Sonoma Chapter of the Speedway Children’s Charities.
The CSRG racing season will close on the weekend of November 4-5 with the Season Finale for all the usual run groups at Thunderhill. All CSRG events can be entered by visiting http://csrg.motorsportreg.com while further details about these events can be obtained with an email to csrglocke@gmail.com
