American racing legend (and all-around nice guy) Dan Gurney was recently honored during the Wine Country Classic vintage race weekend May 20-21 at Sears Point Raceway.
Festivities at the Northern California event included two days of vintage racing, a collection of former Gurney racecars and a display chronicling his incredible racing career.
In addition to handing both Porsche and Brabham their first Formula One victories, Gurney also enjoyed extensive success in Indy Car, NASCAR and sports cars.
Of the Sears Point weekend, Gurney remarked, “I have many fond memories of Sears Point. It’s where I won my last Indy Car race in 1970, the year I retired from driving. It’s a great circuit in a beautiful setting. This is a tremendous honor.”
