The Dan Kruse Austin Hill Country Classic Car Auction 2012 was held Saturday, September 15th at the Palmer Events Center in Austin, Texas, resulting in more than $2.89 million in total sales.
More than 150 cars were on offer the first year the Hill Country Classic sale was held in Austin, with the top result going to the 1933 Duesenberg Model J Franay Sports Berline Sedan that hammered sold for $1,650,000. The “Queen of Diamonds” Duesenberg was once owned by American socialite Countess Porceerei.
Other top sellers in Austin included a 1968 Ford Mustang Shelby selling for $156,600, a 1969 Chevrolet Indy Pace Car at $65,880 and a 1955 Chevrolet Corvette selling for $63,720, all with the buyer’s premium included.
“We had a fantastic turnout for the Austin Hill Country Classic,” said Tedra Kruse, of Dan Kruse Classics. “Austin loves classic cars, and our attendance on Saturday proved it. This was the largest crowd we have ever had in the 38 years of conducting the Hill Country Classic. We are already looking forward to being in Austin next year.”
