The Dana Point Concours d’Elegance 2012 will be staged June 23-24 at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point, California. The 30th annual event will present more than 200 European and American classics and 50 vintage motorcycles.
“We’re anticipating the 30th Annual Dana Point Concours d’Elegance to be the best event yet,” said Jeff Spellens, president of the 2012 Dana Point Concours. “Our team is working hard to host a fantastic celebration, honoring some of the best racers and race cars of our time. The 1960s were legendary in the automotive industry with names like Shelby, Ferrari, Porsche, Lotus and Alfa Romeo, all competing to be the best in the world. We’re thrilled to honor their legacies by celebrating their history during the two-day event.”
Celebrating the “Legends of Le Mans: Racing in the ’60s” era, the 2012 Dana Point Concours will offer several classes, including the Legends of Le Mans Race Car class. The event will also honor the 50th anniversary of Shelby and Ducati will be featured marque for the vintage motorcycle classes.
The event will also honor Bruce Meyer, founding chairman of the Petersen Automotive Museum and founder of the Checkered Flag 200, as its Automotive Icon. As part of his responsibilities as the Dana Point Concours Automotive Icon, Meyer will attend numerous activities throughout the two-day event.
“Bruce is a world class automotive historian and renowned collector,” said Spellens. “He’s a person of honor and integrity, and for his accomplishments Bruce has done it the right way, with style and compassion. Having such a knowledgeable and celebrated automotive aficionado participate in our Concours will help us give people a new understanding and appreciation for the collector car and vintage motorcycle hobbies.”
The two-day celebration kicks-off Saturday, June 23rd, 2012 with a Private Collection Tour featuring automobile collections rarely seen in Southern California. Beach goers and surfers will also enjoy the Beach Cruisers Show on Saturday from 9 am to 5:30 pm.
