Steve Davis has emerged as the overall champion of the 2010 F5000 Revival Race Series on the strength of taking his 1969 Eagle Mark 5-Chevy to a 2nd-place finish in Class A (pre-1972 cars) in October’s season finale at the Infineon Raceway Charity Challenge presented by CSRG. The championship is the second for Davis, who also wore the crown after the series’ inaugural 2008 season.
Overall winner of the event was Jay Esterer in a Class B (post-1971) McRae GM1-Chevy, ahead of Rick Parsons in the ex-Brian Redman Lola T332-Chevy and McRae-mounted Jim Stengel, while Bruce Leeson claimed Class A honors with his McLaren M10B-Chevy, ahead of Davis and Tony Adamowicz in his ’69 championship-winning Eagle.
In the final championship standings, Davis was followed by Stengel, Parsons, Adamowicz, Leeson, series president Seb Coppola, Tom Malloy, Tim Osborne, Esterer and Dudley Cunningham.
