Alfa Romeo may have produced an ungainly looking, graceless racing car, but none come to mind…I’m a pushover for Alfas (I comprehend little about contemporary cars, so it’s easy for me to overlook the current worldwide clumsiness). The pieces have a way of feeling right, quintessential, and somehow inevitable. Those people loved their craft, what they were shaping and building, and had a glorious tradition guarding their efforts. And the engines! And sounds! I heard a 159 Alfetta light up Monterey a few years ago, and it didn’t sound 50 years old – it was so very urgent and contemporary.
It’s up to the beholder I know, and Porsche guys don’t get it, but… Bellisima!
