The 2009 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance officially opened to the general public at 9:00am on Sunday, March 15th, however preparations began weeks, months, if not years, in advance for many of the entrants.
When the big day finally arrived and the gates opened for entrants at 7:00am, an orderly chaos began as entrants drove their cars onto the field and into their assigned parking spot. (Note: most race cars were driven or towed onto the field the day prior).
During that hectic time, we photographed many cars driving down a narrow, downhill cart path onto the 10th and 18th fairways of the Golf Club of Amelia Island where the Amelia Concours d’Elegance takes place. We also took pictures of entrants stopping for directions and generally making sure everything was clean and in order when the public and judges arrived.
Fog still dominated the landscape during the early morning, although the sun soon burned through and perfect weather was enjoyed.

Great shots of beautiful cars. I vividly remember the Penske/White Sunoco Ferrari, the Porsche 908, the BFG Corvette, and the Ford GT #1076, as they all were featured on my bedroom walls.
Thanks for sharing.
Cheers
The early morning haze and seeing the cars before the audience arrives is a special treat. The array of cars was most impressive to a guy who has been going to Pebble & Laguna Seca for decades. Your photos and the special honorees in 2010 (Moss, Petty, & Garlitz) have made me circle March 12-14 for next year. A week in Amelia Island will be a grand experience. Thanks for the wonderful shots.
