The Formula 5000 Drivers Association crowned its 2015 champions at its final race of the season, run as part of SVRA’s U.S. Vintage Racing National Championships at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. Clinching their respective Class A (Pre-1972) and Class B (1972-1976) championships with race victories were Bruce Leeson (McLaren M10B-Chevrolet), who went to Austin leading Class A and by winning simply solidified his standing, while Rick Parsons (Lola T332C-Chevrolet) (above) sat 2nd in the Class B points, so his win enabled him to climb atop the final standings.
Chasing Leeson home at COTA were Mark Harmer (1969 Surtees TS5-Chevrolet) in 2nd and Seb Coppola (1970 Lola T192-Chevrolet) in 3rd, while in Parsons’ wake were Jim Stengel (1973 McRae GM1-Chevrolet) in 2nd and 3rd–placed Eric Haga (1972 Lola T300-Chevrolet).
Our congratulations go out to both champions. For further information, please visit www.F5000Registry.com
