Tom Malloy’s Fairmont Butte Motorsports Park took another step through the bureaucratic approval process following a public hearing in Los Angeles on March 24. The result of the hearing was that the County Planning Commission instructed its staff to prepare the Final Environmental Impact Report so that “conditions of approval” could be discussed at the next hearing, which has been scheduled for June 9.
The project would be built on a 322-acre parcel that Malloy owns 14 miles northwest of Lancaster in northern L.A. County, and would feature a 3.6-mile road course with several alternative configurations. It would serve not only for automotive and motorcycle competition, but also provide a modern testing facility for vehicle manufacturers and allow performance testing by the various industry magazines.
