Early in June, Bloomberg News confirmed that the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO (Chassis 3505GT) originally built for Stirling Moss to race, had changed hands for a record $35 million.
Reportedly purchased by U.S. collector Craig McCaw, Chassis 3505GT was the sixth GTO built and the first one to feature right-hand drive. Intended for Moss to race under the UDT-Laystall banner, Moss’s career ending accident in a Lotus at Goodwood prevented him from ever racing the car, resulting in it being driven by a host of greats including Masten Gregory, Innes Ireland and Willy Mairesse.
