The Sicilian husband and wife duo of Giovanni Moceri and Valeria Dicembre, in their 1939 Fiat 508C, have won the 2020 Coppa d’Oro delle Dolomiti for the second time.
Second position went to the 1947 Volvo Pv444 ofy Antonino Margiotta and Vincenzo Bertieri, with 451.29 penalties: “the goal was to get on the podium after the break, get the feel of the road again… we did well from the beginning, we are absolutely satisfied of the result!“.
“Who worked for the positioning of the tests was really fantastic, the tests were in very beautiful positions” says Osvaldo Peli commenting on the 40 timed tests and 4 average tests on today’s route. For him, his first experience at the Coppa d’Oro delle Dolomiti, a passion for vintage cars that goes from father to son, with Andrea, 14-years old in his first year as a navigator with his father. A more than promising team that, with their 1934 Fiat Balilla Coppa d’Oro, accumulated a total of 502.50 penalties and obtains the third position on the absolute podium.
Today’s route, from Cortina to the north, also satisfied the drivers, under a beatufiul sun today they were able to fully enjoy the Dolomite panoramas through the Tre Croci, Sant’Antonio, Zovo and Monte Croce Comelico passes, where they stopped for the break. Then the green areas of the Val Pusteria, San Candido, Dobbiaco, Valdaora, San Martino in Badia, were some of the places touched before returning again to Corso Italia in a triumphant procession.
Fourth position went to Gianmario Fontanella and Annamaria Covelli in their 1939 Lancia Aprilia, with 508.74 penalties. Behind them the team composed by Luca Patron and Alberto Scapolo, with the 1925 Bentley 3 Liter Speed, the oldest car in the race, with a total of 546.25 penalties.
Sixth position went to Alberto Aliverti, in team with Stefano Valente, in the Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 SS Zagato, 561.15 penalty, “is the debut with this car, that it is as beautiful as it is challenging” a car that we will see again in mid-October in the Madonie for the Targa Florio Classica.
Tomorrow will feature the Tour dei Sestieri di Cortina, an optional competitive event, then the awards ceremony at the Miramonti Majestic Grand Hotel.
