On January 15, 2000, the Vintage Racecar Journal in cooperation with the Vintage Auto Racing Association (VARA), were proud to present the First Annual Vintage Racecar Show & Concours. This new event, which was open to any vintage racecar, was held at the new Irwindale Speedway in Irwindale, California.
At the time that this issue went to press, a large number of significant historic racecars were confirmed to take part, including examples of the Porsche 917, 907 and 917/30. In addition to FIA sports cars, Indy cars and F5000 machines, several Formula One cars were slated to take part. Among these were Francois Cevert’s Tyrrell 002 which won the 1972 USGP at Watkins Glen. Photo Gallery coverage of this event will appear in next month’s issue of VRJ.
