Known as the Dubonnet Xenia, this 1938 Hispano Suiza H6C chassis was modified by Andre Dubonnet to showcase his eponymous independent suspension system that was created with the help of engineer Antoine-Marie Chedru. Dubonnet used a Hispano Suiza H6C chassis (bought after the 1932 Paris Salon) and modified it to include his enclosed coil spring suspension. Dubonnet had his Xenia Coupe designed by Jean Andreu and bodied by Jaques Saoutchik. The result was an avante-garde interpretation of the teardrop and an entirely unique car for its period. Highlights of the design include a parallel door system, Plexiglas side windows that open “gullwing” style and an aviation-themed interior.
