From West Coast Juniors comes word of a global celebration of the formula’s Diamond Jubilee that will begin next January and run deep into 2017.
This Formula Junior festival will kick off in South Africa in January with a three-race series at Zwartkops (January 29-30), Killarney (February 5-6) and East London (February 12-13). The celebration will then spread to Europe, where five dates have been confirmed so far: the 74th Goodwood Members Meeting in March; the Monaco Grand Prix Historique in May; the Brands Hatch Superprix in July; and two in September, the Goodwood Revival Meeting and the Spa 6 Hours. Other European dates are likely to be added.
The series then heads to Australia for the tried and tested three-race Tasman Series in October and November 2016, taking participants from Western Australia right across to Sydney. The races will be at Barbagallo, Western Australia (October 22-23), Sandown, Victoria (November 5-6) and Eastern Creek in New South Wales (November 18–20). All transportation will be arranged.
In early 2017 the tour will move across to New Zealand for a series of races starting at the Hampton Downs Festival (January 20-22) and then via the LeadFoot Festival Hillclimb to the South Island for the Scope Classic at Ruapuna Circuit (February 4-5), a non-points round at The Levels (February 11–12), and the Evolution Classic at Teretonga (February 18-19).
Later in 2017 the two North American legs of the tour will take place, with a pair of prestigious dates already confirmed: the Canadian Historic Grand Prix at Mosport in June 2017, and Lime Rock Historic Festival 35 from Thursday August 31 to Monday September 4, 2017. Four other races are planned or in negotiation at major U.S. circuits.
Formula Junior’s traveling circus will then return to Europe for more to-be-determined highlights, including a visit to Monza, the birthplace of Formula Junior, and two grids at the Silverstone Classic. For further information, please contact WestCoastJuniors@comcast.net
