David Brown Automotive has revealed its limited edition Speedback Silverstone Edition (above, photo courtesy of David Brown Automotive) at the Geneva International Motor Show to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the company’s relocation of its headquarters and coachbuilding facility to the historic racing venue. Limited to a run of only 10 handmade production cars, the Speedback Silverstone Edition is an example of bespoke British handcraftsmanship, with each model made using traditional coachbuilding techniques at DBA’s Silverstone headquarters.
Delivering 601-hp with 565 lbs-ft of torque, a 0-60 time of 4.2 seconds and a limited top speed of 155 mph, the car’s 5.0-liter, twin-scroll supercharged V8 engine is mated to a six-speed ZF automatic transmission to become the most performance-oriented car ever produced by David Brown Automotive.
Based on the Speedback GT, the Silverstone Edition includes upgraded suspension to enhance the car’s handling dynamics with a fully automated Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system, safety technologies, performance brakes and active rear differential. The handcrafted aluminum body is streamlined with extended side skirts, a front spoiler and rear diffuser, while larger side vents — with limited edition Silverstone Edition badges — hint at the performance-enhanced power train. Also unique are the forged 20-inch “Afterburner” alloy wheels, and a signature-pattern grille is fitted with twin LED auxiliary driving lights, enhancing visibility while complimenting the dark ceramic LED technical headlamps and clear lens tail lights. The two-seat configuration — with luggage storage space in place of the rear seats — features heated and adjustable sports seats with a stylized Silverstone Circuit outline embroidered into the tan leather. The car’s fully integrated infotainment system includes satellite navigation, Bluetooth® connectivity and a 7.1-channel Bowers & Wilkins® surround sound audio system.
“Ever since David Brown Automotive relocated to Silverstone, we have wanted to mark the significance of the circuit’s aeronautical and motorsport heritage,” said David Brown, company founder and CEO. “Speedback Silverstone Edition addresses our ambition on every level, as a visually stunning Grand Tourer and the most performance-focused model we have ever made. We have developed Speedback Silverstone Edition to appeal to a new customer; the driver who wants the very best in performance at all times, but still wants to retain usability and drivability in an exclusive model which still offers both comfort and luxury.”
