The Gooding and Company Amelia Island Auction 2013 will be held Friday, March 8th on the grounds of the Amelia Island Plantation in Florida.
Gooding and Company assembled more than 70 collector cars for its 4th annual Amelia Island sale, headlined by the 1928 Bentley 4 1/2 Litre Semi-Le Mans Tourer(Est. $2,000,000–$2,500,000); 1953 Fiat 8V Supersonic (Est. $1,100,000–$1,400,000); 1965 Aston Martin Short Chassis Volante (Est. $1,500,000–$1,800,000) and 1966 Ferrari 275 GTS (Est. $850,000–$1,100,000).
Other notable entries at the 2013 Gooding Amelia Island auction include the 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB Long Nose Alloy (Est. $2,000,000-$2,400,000); 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 (Est. $450,000–$550,000) and 1965 Shelby 289 Cobra (Est. $850,000 – $1,000,000).
“High-performance cars from the 1960s and 1970s are very popular among car enthusiasts and collectors right now,” says David Gooding, president and founder of Gooding & Company. “Cars like Ferrari’s 275 GTB, Porsche’s 911 Carrera RS and Shelby’s 289 Cobra were the heroes of their time and are incredibly fun to drive now, so they resonate with a lot of people who have worked hard and are now able to afford the cars they loved in their youth.”
In 2012, Gooding and Company offered 77 automobiles for sale, with 70 finding a new owner, reflecting a 90.9% sales rate. Total sales volume was $36,057,800, inclusive of buyer’s premiums. The average price per car sold was $515,111. Top sale went to the 1973 Porsche 917/30 Can-Am Spyder at $4,400,000, followed by the 1955 Porsche 550/1500 RS Spyder that brought $3,685,000 and the 1974 Porsche 911 Carrera RSR Turbo 2.14 that made $3,245,000. The Gooding and Company Amelia Island Auction 2013 will be held on Friday, March 8th at 11am, at the Racquet Park located at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation at 6800 First Coast Highway in Amelia Island, Florida. Previews will be held on Thursday, March 7th from 9am to 6pm, and Friday, March 8th from 9am to 11am. An auction catalog for $75 admits two to the viewing and auction. General admission to the viewing and auction can be purchased at the tent for $30 per person.
