The Goodwood Festival of Speed 2011 was held July 1-3 at Goodwood House and the 1.16-mile Goodwood hillclimb in West Sussex, England.
The theme for the 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed was ‘Racing Revolutions – Quantum leaps that shaped motor sport’, celebrating the ceaseless quest for increased power; greater efficiency; more speed. With this central theme, this year’s Festival marked 75 years since Auto Union won the European Championship with a ground-breaking rear-engined car; 60 years since increased economy helped the normally-aspirated Ferraris vanquish the supercharged Alfa Romeos; 30 years since the dawn of rallying’s four-wheel-drive age; 25 years since turbocharged engines ruled the roost in F1; and 20 years since a rotary-engined Mazda took the chequered flag at Le Mans.
The 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed also honored the 100th anniversary of the Indianapolis 500, 60 years since the C-type scored the first of Jaguar’s seven Le Mans victories and the iconic British marque’s illustrious racing heritage was also celebrated at Goodwood.
To mark the Jaguar E-type’s half century, Goodwood paid a fitting tribute to the motoring icon with a dramatic 28 metre-high central feature sculpture, designed by award-winning sculptor Gerry Judah (his 12th for the Festival of Speed) and weighing 150 tonnes – equivalent to 122 Jaguar E-types.
In the first of several photo galleries, Senior Photographer Tim Scott presents the following 220 pictures that capture the essence of “largest motoring garden party in the world,” the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2011. To see more images from Tim, visit fluidimages.co.uk.

Wow! What an awesome collection of cars. And Tim’s photography is great. Thanks!
Hi
Nice set of racing/sport cars!
I really love Chaparral cars (I owned one… a Chaparral 2A (a 1:43 slot-car made by Cox) ;^)).
It seems that there’s a small error with car #191: this is a Lotus -Renault F1 not a MacLaren.
Best regards
Thanks for the correction – much appreciated. Not sure how we missed that one, especially with the huge LOTUS on the rear wing!
Wow, great photos!
