The 75th renewal of Goodwood’s annual Members’ Meeting took place last weekend at the historic Chichester circuit, awarding classic cups and trophies in a dozen classes, the winners of which are listed below.
The event also marked the recent passing of the legendary British double World Champion John Surtees with a single demonstration lap by Richard Attwood in Big John’s very first racecar, the 1960 Cooper Junior Mk1 Type 52, with which he made his four-wheel debut at the 1960 edition of the Members’ Meeting — finishing 2nd to Jim Clark’s Lotus 18.
Among the weekend’s other highlights were high-speed demonstration runs by 3-Liter Sports Prototypes including Ferrari’s legendary 312PB, Matra’s MS670, Alfa Romeo’s T33 and the Ford Cosworth DFV-powered Gulf Mirages. Fans were also treated to high-speed lapping sessions on both Saturday and Sunday for cars such as BMW’s 635i, Ford’s Mustang GT, Jaguar’s V12 XJS, MG’s Metro Turbo, Rover’s 3500 Vitesse and Volvo’s 240 Turbo that celebrated Touring Car racing’s popular Group A era.
Finally, the 16 Members’ Meeting governors also voted for their favorite cars among the demo drives this year, singling out David Clark’s Harrods McLaren F1 GTR, the Texaco-liveried Ford RS500, Henrik Lindbergh’s Lola de Cadenet T380-Ford, the Porsche Museum’s Porsche 911 GT1-98 and BMW Group Classic’s 1987 BMW M3 E30.
