In a scene from the 1967 BUA International Trophy Meeting, on the May Spring Bank Holiday, at Crystal Palace, two Ford GT40s duel for position. Number 47, driven by Terry Drury, leads Frank Gardner in number 41. It was a brief moment of glory, however, as Drury failed to finish, while Gardner finished in position. Another GT40 eventually “won the day,” though, with Paul Hawkins at the wheel.
Artist Neil Podbery based the monochrome oil painting on a Ferret Fotographic image, and the original of this painting is still for sale at £1995. It is also available as an art print for £85.
