The third edition of Historic Sportscar Racing’s Classic 24 Hour at Daytona, set for November 8-12 at Datona Interntional Speedway, will showcase IMSA GTP and Group C Prototypes as the event’s Featured Race Car Group. In addition to the featured machinery, the event wil also host an all-star panel of GTP/Group C era drivers and a racecar display to complement the competition among the historic prototypes on track.
The GTP machines and their Group C counterparts will headline Run Group C, which will also include several other classes of historic IMSA GTO and GTU racecars, and similar production-based GT racecars from the same era in Europe and around the world. Eligible GT machines from the 1980s through the early 1990s that will fit into in Run Group 6 include big-bore Ford Mustangs and Chevy Corvettes, three- and four-rotor Mazda RX-7s and the usual lineup of 911-based Porsches.
The Classic 24 Hour at Daytona and its sister event, the Classic 12 Hour at Sebring, are being run in the same calendar year for the first time in 2017, less than three weeks apart. Just 17 days after the Classic 24, HSR travels to Sebring International Raceway for the second edition of the Classic 12 Hour at Sebring, Pistons and Props. That event runs from November 29 through December 3. For complete information about both events, please visit www.HSRRace.com
