The Motorsports Hall of Fame of America held its 22nd annual induction ceremonies at the Fillmore Theater in Detroit during the last week of August. This most recent class of inductees includes: drag racing legend Dale Armstrong; daredevil stuntman Joie Chitwood; underdog stock car champion Alan Kulwicki; motocross hero Jeremy McGrath; groundbreaking broadcaster Ken Squier; journalist/racer Jerry Titus; and sprint and midget star Rich Vogler.
The gala gathering was addressed by keynote speaker Chip Ganassi, who spoke of the need for racing to reclaim its role as the technological leader for the automotive industry. Ganassi emphasized that this is crucial if both industries are to remain vital and prosperous.
