Tragedy struck on Friday, July 27, during an open test session, when historic and SCCA racer Jim Victor was involved in a single-car incident during a test session, he was injured and subsequently transported via medical helicopter to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center for evaluation. Unfortunately, Jim Victor succumbed to his injuries sustained in the accident. Victor was testing his Formula Continental car in anticipation of the upcoming weekend-long SCCA Majors event. The Majors Tour is the top level of amateur road racing in sports cars and open-wheel cars.
Victor, a financial services provider from Davenport, Iowa, was an accomplished racer who had run at Road America many times—most recently just a week ago—in his historic Chevron B17 Formula B car. In addition to historic racing, Victor also competed in the SCCA and was a past finisher (2004) in the Daytona 24, in the Super Grand Sport class.
Vintage Road & Racecar extends its sincerest condolences to the Victor family and all of Jim Victor’s racing friends.
