The Historic Motor Sports Association (HMSA) Sommet des Legendes was held July 10-12, 2015 at Circuit Mont-Tremblant in Canada. BMW and its famed CSL model were featured at this year’s historic car race, the 11th edition staged on the 2.65-mile, 15-turn road course in the Laurentian Mountains of Quebec.
Formerly known as Saint Jovite, the demanding Circuit Mont-Tremblant has a proud history, opening in 1964 and twice hosting the Canadian Grand Prix of the Formula One World Championship. Additionally, the legendary Canadian-American Challenge Cup or Can-Am series produced a number of its most memorable contests on the circuit following its 1966 debut there, won by racing great John Surtees in a Lola T70.
In addition to a great selection of BMW CSL racers, other notable and interesting entrants at the 2015 HMSA Mont-Tremblant historic races included Russ Kempnich’s 1984 Porsche 956C; Michael Malone’s 1968 Porsche 908; John Goodman’s 1972 Ferrari Sparling Special; Denis Bigioni’s 1948 Talbot-Lago T26C; Doug Kurtin’s 1972 Porsche 911 Carrera RS; Doug Mockett’s 1976 Penske PC-4; Chris Locke’s 1976 Lotus 77; Mogens Christensen’s 1965 Wolverine Sports Racer; Robert Blain’s 1967 Lola T70 Spyder; Pasqualino Cerasuolo’s 1961 Dailu Mk I Bardahl Special and Nick Incantalupo’s 1975 Osella PAS.

Similar to 2012, 2013 and 2014, Senior Photographer Dennis Gray also documented the 2015 historic races at Circuit Mont-Tremblant. We split up Dennis’ images into two galleries. The first gallery starting below features our favorite images, all displayed in the full-width view of our website, while the second gallery and race results can be found on the last page of the article and gives a comprehensive view of all the photographs.

More of my images from the HMSA Sommet des Legendes 2015 are available for viewing and purchase at http://historicmotorprints.com. I will be adding images from Mont Tremblant this weekend. Check out the site and let me know what you think.
Dennis
I would just dd these few words furnished by HMSA:
You would think that being separated by a continent Mount-Tremblant and Monterey would not have much in common. You would be wrong. Both tracks are spectral natural road courses with history going back to the early 1960’s. The Historic Motor Sports Association (HMSA) is the sanctioning body at the Sommet des Legendes and the Reunion which guarantees full fields of authentic world class vintage cars. Both venues are set in a resort community with five star restaurants and accommodations. Recreation outside of the race track is limited only by your imagination. Golf, boating, shopping, biking, scenic drives, and at Mount-Tremblant the international Blues Festival every night.
Start making plans now to attend next year’s event. It will be the 50th Anniversary of CAN AM series which held its very first race at Mount-Tremblant.
Can you imagine a field of Can-AM cars under the Mont Tremblant bridge or through the valley? Hope to see more of you there. Dennis
Wonderful images as always, Dennis. Love the images you shared of the beautiful 1948 Talbot-Lago T26C.
I would love to go back to Mont-Tremblant!
Though I wasn’t able to make it up to Mont Tremblant, I had the pleasure of hearing Henry Schmitt’s CSL at Sears Point last month. Incredible motor and sound.
Some gorgeous cars here, well-captured by you as always Dennis ! Thanks for all the hard work!
Personally I miss the multi car competition photos that Walt Pietrowicz was known for in VM. I realize Dennis has to make a living selling single photos, but it would be nice to have some competition racing photos. Especially from Mt. Tremblant
