Officials of Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) have announced that David Hinton, president of Vintage Racing Events LLC, has acquired a controlling interest in the organization. HSR, which organizes vintage racecar events in America’s East and Midwest, was founded in 1977 as the Walter Mitty Challenge Group, changing its name to Historic Sportscar Racing during the 1990s. Hinton and long-time HSR member Jim Pace have acquired the interest of the organization’s longtime supporter Pater McLaughlin. Pace will join the HSR management team and assist with HSR’s driver improvement efforts.
“Peter McLaughlin has been a part of historic racing in the United States for many years,” commented Hinton. “We all owe him a great deal of thanks for helping to shape the sport into what we enjoy today. Jim’s extensive experience in many aspects of motorsports as a longtime Skip Barber instructor, professional race driver and historic competitor will only add to the quality, sportsmanship and safety of our events.”
