Last December, the Mail Online ran a piece on turkey rearing that highlighted cruelty. Two farmers were singled out for praise for the way they treat their birds, and one was Jody Scheckter.
Jody’s considerable achievements in another life were not mentioned. I found this refreshing. We live in an age when every tin pot celebrity can earn column inches for having a tattoo or for wearing a frock. Jody had not thought to mention that he is, and ever more shall be, the 1979 F1 World Champion. Note to TV commentators: there are no ex-Champions.
