I’m approaching my tenth anniversary of being hooked up to the Internet. One thing about the Net is that it is recording motor racing history. In my neck of the woods, a “food park” has opened. You may be wondering what a food park is, lettuce roaming free as nature intended, perhaps? Actually, it’s a factory where salads are prepared for supermarkets.
The road into the “food park” crosses a section of concrete. This concrete is part of the old perimeter track of the former RAF Marston. In 1947, that concrete hosted the one and only Chichester Speed Trials. Among those who took part was a teenager called Stirling Moss in his BMW 328. It is a tiny fragment in the rich history of our sport but, thanks to the Net, I can record it.
