This Saturday’s 2016 edition of the Keeneland Concours d’Elegance will celebrate Chrysler cars — including a group of Winged Warriors, the Dodge Daytonas and Plymouth Superbirds that dominated NASCAR racing in the early 1970s. The event will feature more than 120 collector cars and motorcycles between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the Keene Barn Entertainment Center at the historic Keeneland thoroughbred racetrack in Lexington, Kentucky.
“We’re thrilled to have such rare and remarkable cars at this year’s Concours,” said the event’s co-chair Tom Jones, “including some that have won major awards at other events. We invite everyone to come celebrate all things Kentucky and have a great day here at Keeneland.”
There will also be a class of cars featured in movies and TV shows such as Back to the Future, Smokey and the Bandit, Knight Rider and Transformers. A special historical display will highlight carriage builders that transitioned to building bodies for cars in the early days of the automobile.
The weekend kicks off with the Hanger Bash, running from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, July 15, in the DGY Hangar at Bluegrass Airport. Since the first event in 2004, the Keeneland Concours d’Elegance has showcased the finest in automobiles and the attractions of central Kentucky on the lush grounds of the race course. Activities include a Bourbon Tour, Hangar Bash and the Tour d’Elegance of scenic Kentucky back roads. Proceeds benefit Kentucky Children’s Hospital to help bring better healthcare to the children of Kentucky. For more information please visit http://www.keenelandconcours.com
